Yanagisawa "El Dorado 500" Alto: How about this folks, a vintage Japanese sax... Excellent, reverse engineered Selmer copy. Great feeling keywork and quality construction. Finish is about 98%, but has scratching on the leg side of bell and strap hook area. Fortunately the neck is excellent, not one dent or crease, only a tiny pinhead ding and the ocrtave key has the yani sign on it. The official model was A-4, which was introduced by yani in 1966 and it's stamped A-4 by the serial # 2732xx. ( it's hard to figure yani serial #'s) A new model the A-6 was introduced in 1970, soooo... 66-70, for sure. The model 500 is the predecessor of the A 900 and 990 models, preferred by most for it's warmer sound, with more character than modern saxes. I would compare it to a yamaha 61. We already removed most of the sax's dents/dings before the pics, so that you can see the result. There are a few ripples in the bell rim and near the thumbhook, but the overall impression is very nice. 1399.00 Yanagisawa " Dorado 500" Tenor: How about this folks, a vintage Japanese sax... Excellent, reverse engineered Selmer copy. Great feeling keywork and quality construction. Finish is about 90%, but has scratching on the leg side of bell and strap hook area and below. The official model was T-4, which was introduced by yani in 1966 and it's stamped T-4 by the serial # 2732xx. ( it's hard to figure yani serial #'s) A new model the T-6 was introduced in 1970, soooo... 66-70, for sure. It's a fine example of Yanagisawa's early saxes, the model 500 is the predecessor of the A 900 and 990 models, preferred by most for it's warmer sound, with more character than modern saxes. I would compare it to a yamaha 61. The bell lip and the bow have some denting, we will remove as well as possible. This is a great sax for the money. 1399.00
